Hi. I too have a ranger primary, and monk secondary, but i must say, the monk secondary somewhat bores me. I enjoy the smiting skills, they are fun, so if you want to smite, i would be a monk/ranger, not a ranger/monk

now that i think of it..
i think RANGER / NECRO OR WARRIOR / NECRO might be a good pvp build.. weaken enemy with curse, chop down with sword (FPR WARRIOR / NECR) weaken enemy with curse, shoot them (RANGER. NECR) what do u guys think? Last edited by 1/2_Extreme; Mar 23, 2005 at 03:33 AM // 03:33.. |

Ranger/Mesmer is a common favorite. I personally like this one the best (the only one i haven't tryed is R/N). ... But my personal favorite is R/WhoCares ... The WhoCares is always Mesmer but I don't use it. |

I think that Death At The Door here is N/R so maybe he can say more about if its a good build or not.

Ever seen a Nec/War tank? It's really annoying...

Any combination of character classes CAN and will give you a viable PvP character..if you are willing to invest the time and patience to "flesh" them out. The perfect character isn't neccessarily the most popular one..It is more to the point that the perfect character is the one you enjoy playing with the most...best way to find your muse is to experiment with different combos until you are satisfied with the results.
Even bad skills are good if they are combined the right way. Just need to find your "key" to them. |

it always depends what kind of player u r~
if u like to be in there go warrior if u like long range go ranger if u like AoE go ele then when u get a 2nd proff just choose something that suits or u think works well with it. i personally would prefer ranger/elementalist or ranger/necro i wouldnt really go ranger/monk because ur ranged and u dont have as much spell points and stuff so yer~ id try ranger mesmer or ranger ele |

I'm kindof a wus type player and like to be able to run if the tide turns, I play a Ranger/Necro primarily. It works for me in that I can debuff and damage from afar, only enemy casters and rangers are immediate threats (eliminating warriors in PvE anyway) It seems to work ok with my playstyle, I can be annoying to others in PvP and be somewhat neglected since I'm out of the main battle, off in the corner, yet still doing my part.
I really don't think theres a "bad" pvp or pve build...theres definately some I don't like to play, or playagainst, but it's all personal preference. I say try them all and stick with the most enjoyable. I also made a Mes/Ele this last beta and enjoyed the combo greatly. The pre-academy area that you start in gives you the option to try all the secondary classes, just explore with them and see what feels best. |

I have used Ranger/Monk for a while now. If you use the proper combination of skills. You can be a self sustain force on any field you play on. And at the same time confuse enemies by healing Monk/? players as they are the ones that other Guilds like to try and take out early.
Ranger/Monk character builds are great against the Char. |

A Ran/Monk can be a viable backup healer and I've seen it work well with several ran/monks in a group as the only healers. They're hard to take down due to good armor and high hp and have more energy than warriors due.
So with a ran/monk you can put out fairly decent damage and offer some good healing support to your team. |
